TOOLS FOR CHANGE
Ryobi launches Tools For Change #ryobirebuild, an initiative to tackle the UK’s hidden housing crisis – furniture poverty and substandard living conditions. Every year, millions of items of furniture end up on dumps or waste grounds all over the country. Meanwhile, two million UK households are experiencing furniture poverty, living in homes that lack essential furniture, white goods and household fittings – a situation that’s been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tools For Change project addresses this issue head-on, using Ryobi’s tools and skills to reclaim, refurbish and redistribute unwanted furniture to the people that need it most. Partnering with community leaders, charities and relevant influencers, we establish an upcycling centre, identify people needing support, and initiate a media and social campaign to drive awareness of the issue.
